Failure to pay the submission fee by the due date will invalidate the submission. After completing the submission form and uploading the score and audio file, the submitter will need to click this link to submit the $15,00 fee per submission.The evaluation committee will be comprised of DMEA members and noted members of the music community who are experts in the area of composition.Compositions will be judged based on six areas: Creativity, Craftmanship, Melody, Harmonic Language, Rhythmic Aspects, and Aesthetic Appeal.While this recording may be created using DAW or notation software, recordings which utilize live instruments and musicians, if possible, are preferred. An Audio recording (in mp3, aiff, or wav format) must be included with the submission.Every submission must be sponsored by a current DMEA member who must sign off on the application and provide their NAfME membership number and contact information.Submission at the elementary level may be either traditionally or graphically notated. Scores submitted at the middle and high school level are to be traditionally notated, unless aspects of the composition make that impossible. Compositions must be original and should note on application any “borrowed” materials or ideas.Compositions may be for a solo instrument or voice, or for an ensemble of instruments and or voices.Original student compositions must not exceed five (5) minutes.No more than two compositions may be submitted by one student.
